We spoke with the Cheshire captain Daniel Woods ahead of his second spell at the club.

Q1. Firstly, welcome back to Hyde Woodsy... What are the reasons behind your move back?

I'm very happy to be back at Hyde and looking forward to the season. The reasons for me coming back were largely based around me taking on the Cheshire captaincy. To captain the county I should be playing in the Cheshire County League. There was only ever going to be one club I would play for in Cheshire and that is obviously Hyde. I have many fantastic memories from my previous time playing here and hope to create more in the future. I have lots of very close friends at Hyde and it's an exciting time to be at the club. I hope we can have another successful season.

Q2. This will obviously be your second spell at the club, What do you think is going to be different this time around?

I am obviously a more experienced player now than when I left Hyde. I will look to help Bez as much as I can and hopefully I can help some younger players at the club. I expect a lot of things to be the same, I'm looking forward to Browny's teas again! I'm also sure my Dad (aka Krusty the Clown) will be stomping around the ground and boring people with his terrible stories!

Q3. You had some very successful years at your old club York who play in the ECB Yorkshire Prem, do you think there is much of a difference between the Yorkshire Prem & the Cheshire Prem?

York is a fantastic club and I was lucky to be a part of some great teams there. The massive problem with the Yorkshire League is there is no promotion and relegation system in place at the moment. This is due to change but does mean a lot of matches are perhaps not as competitive as they could be. I am looking forward to being part of a tough league this season and am expecting a lot of very competitive cricket.

Q4. With the season just around the corner, What do you think the season holds for Hyde CC?

I think it would be stupid to make any bold predictions about how Hyde can do this season. We need to keep our feet on the ground and not get carried away in my opinion. There is no doubt there is a lot of talent and potential in that dressing room. I was discussing the team with Bez and thought that this is possibly the most talented club side I have ever played in. We must train hard and not expect other people to do our jobs for us. Most importantly we must enjoy it! There's some great characters in the dressing room and the atmosphere around the team seems great.

Q5... and what are your personal goals for the season?

I honestly don't set myself any personal goals. I know its boring but I will do my best to get as many wickets as I can! I did manage to hit a six for Cheshire at Alderley Edge last year so if I can do that again I will be delighted!

Q6. Who do you see as Hyde's biggest threat in the league this season and why?

From what I've been told there are no easy games in the league. I imagine any team can beat anyone on their day. There may be a few 'upsets' during the season and we certainly can't take anyone lightly. Chester clearly have a very talented squad of players. I have the pleasure of listening to Lee Dixon on the phone on a regular basis. They fully deserved their National Twenty20 success last year and I was delighted for them. I'm definitely looking forward to the battles against them this season.

Q7. You have recently been named Cheshire Captain, are you looking forward to leading your troops out at Hyde?

I can't wait for the Cheshire game at Hyde! I was gutted to miss the county game on Werneth Low a couple of years ago so it will mean a lot to me to lead the side out this season. Hopefully there will be a big crowd with lots of support, especially for the Hyde lads!

Q8. How far do you think Cheshire can go this season?

There's a huge amount of talent in the county. We have a team with a good mix of youth and experience with a fantastic team spirit. There are lots of talented sides in the minor counties and we can't let any games pass us by. It's a tough competition but we definitely have the ability and belief to be successful!

Cheers for that woodsy, all the best for the season on your return home!
